Who we are

As a young boy, I grew up in a small town. I was not a standout student-I was very average academically. I was okay at sports and played most of them growing up. One year our town had an art contest in the fall, and I completed a large mural on a plate glass window in the heart of town. I received a lot of praise for this artwork and found something that I genuinely enjoyed that I was particularly good at. I completed high school and went on to study at a small bible college. I then transferred to central state college (now University of Central Oklahoma), where I worked on an art degree.

Needless to say, as an art majoring college student in the late 60’s, I needed a job. So, I went to work for a gentleman, who laid carpet. I learned that trade and soon married his daughter. I decided to branch out on my own, and my wife Debra and I had our first child and not too long after we had our second child. I began making a decent living laying carpet, and we were able to buy our first home to continue growing our family.

At this time, I was blessed to be able to provide a good life for my family, but I missed artwork. I enjoyed the expression, and color, and design. I started using the medium I knew, carpet, and began to design rugs. I soon began crafting carpets and rug for designers in Edmond and OKC.

Until this time, I had rented only a small building for my carpet business, but I decided to build my own workshop on Classen Boulevard. I constructed my building and decided to purchase sergers and binders, and built an air table, all the things needed to construct custom stair runners and rugs. I had already been carving and designing, but the machines helped me have a complete work room. I had the privilege to work with the best designer's, stores, and individuals in the state of Oklahoma, and it has been nothing but my pleasure.

The projects are too numerous for me to name but thank you all for making Kinrich what it is today. My son Austin has joined me and together we will serve you for many more years to come. On this website, you will see many of the projects and possibilities that together we can create. Carpet is just another art medium, and we hope we can create a piece of art for you.
